We publish several pamphlets designed to help people understand the planning system, and these are listed below. For some reason there are very few planning books which cover the huge range of topics in as much detail as our pamphlets, and they are kept up to date whereas books tend to date rapidly. We suggest that you start off by looking at these, because they are designed to help people help themselves. Prepaid orders only please.

Initial consultations are free of charge and enable us and you to assess whether we can help you. If it seems that your project is an impossible one, we shall say so; but even if there is enough in your favour to justify undertaking a project, we cannot guarantee the outcome. As with courts of law, where no two judges ever agree, so you will rarely find two planning inspectors who agree; planning outcomes (like court cases) are therefore something of a gamble. But it helps to have loaded dice.

We can act as your Agent, and write to your local planning authority on your behalf. Or simply advise you so that you may act for yourself. We can provide a rough estimate of costs. We usually submit monthly accounts i.e. ask you to pay as you go. You won't find lower charges anywhere.
